Become a Member
Being a member of the Genesian Theatre Company is like being part of large family of like-minded people.
If your interest is in acting, directing, stage management, sound,
lights, publicity, admin, etc, or if you just want to experience being
a member of the group, we would welcome you as a member. You don't need
to be experienced, we can "show you how" and can cater to different
levels of involvement.
There is a one-year probationary period for intending members during which
time you have all the privileges of membership except voting rights and
access to grants for theatre study. The fee for probationary membership is
$33 (GST included).
It is important to remember that as a volunteer organisation there are a
number of activities, apart from acting, which help the Theatre to function.
All members are required to perform Front-of-House duty at least once a
'season'. Other important activities include crewing for shows (lights,
sound or backstage), helping with working bees, set construction and design,
costume co-ordination and making, publicity mailouts, etc. In other words
being involved in some way in the varied tasks required to keep the Theatre
running.
Our next meeting for prospective new members will be held at 7pm on Tuesday the 28th September 2010 at the Genesian Theatre, 420 Kent Street (near Druitt Street), Sydney. The meeting should last about an hour and a half. It gives you a chance to meet some existing members and to ask questions about the organisation. Attendance at this meeting in no way obligates you to join the Theatre but if we are mutually satisfied you will be able to join at the conclusion of the meeting.
