The Genesian Theatre is proud to present our 72nd Season in 2016-2017

Welcome to our 72nd Season!

This year we kick off with Nothing Personal, a work by Australia's master dramatist David Williamson that explores the rivalry between two women in a publishing company. Witty and astute, this play is a wonderful opener to our season.

Thomas Hardy's 1874 novel Far From the Madding Crowd was the subject of a popular film last year and we are thrilled to have obtained the rights to Mark Healy's recent stage adaptation for English Touring Theatre. The tale of a head-strong, feisty, yet ultimately compassionate woman and her three suitors, this acclaimed adaptation fuses vivid story-telling, live folk-song, and humour. Don't miss it!

Next up it is off to Petra to discover how Mrs Boynton really dies in Agatha Christie's Appointment With Death. Piece together the clues, test the alibis, and discover 'whodunnit' in this classic Christie thriller!

What happens if you take a script by one of Britain's leading playwrights, Tim Firth, and combine it with the best songs of British super-group Madness? You get the Olivier Award winning musical Our House! A gripping, moving, and very funny story about a 16 year old boy facing the choice of two paths in life and all their ramifications, it features songs such as 'It Must Be Love', 'Baggy Trousers', 'Wings of a Dove', and of course 'Our House'. Be in quick for tickets to this one!

Bram Stoker's Gothic tale of Dracula has fascinated generations and needs no introduction. Stoker, a friend of Wilde and Conan Doyle, wrote the piece while employed as administrator of London's Lyceum Theatre and always hoped to see it adapted for the stage.

Finally this season, we present the ultimate comedy of 'opposites attracting' - Much Ado About Nothing. Shakespeare's insightful tale of finding love where you least expect it will be a wonderful finale to our season!

We do hope you will join us for some or all of our plays this year. We look forward to showing you to your seat in Sydney's unique little theatre.
